The Institute of Spirituality in Asia (ISA) in partnership with the Southeast
Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute (SAIDI)
- School of OD offers modules and courses
that would develop the students’ skills in Organization
Development as they deepen their spirituality, their
scholarly insights, and their academic skills through
the M.A. and Ph.D. Programs in Organization Development
major in Transformative Spirituality.
ISA seeks to discern and deepen
the meaning and relevance of transformative
spirituality in the Philippine and Asian
context. Through hermeneutic, critical and methodical
reflection, it tries to make the experience of transformative
spirituality and cultural diversity fruitful for the
mission of the Church and for the renewal of the society.
ISA intends to develop a liberating,
intercultural and transformative spirituality by combining
the experiences of students from a diversity of cultures
in the Philippines and Asian context with ISA’s
scholarly expertise in research and teaching.
The M.A. and Ph.D. in Organization Development major
in Transformative Spirituality programs prepare students
to practice spirituality in an independent way and
share insights into the relationship of spirituality
and their own personal lives. Students will acquire
a broad knowledge of the field of spirituality and
more detailed knowledge on Carmelite Spirituality
and in the varied spiritualities in the Philippines
and in Asia.
As in every discipline, the study of Organization
Development major in Transformative Spirituality has
its material and formal objects. The material object
presents the phenomenon of lived spirituality. The
formal object provides and sharpens the 'eye' of the
researcher for the basic processes, the dynamics that
are at work in the field of lived spirituality. It
provides the 'discernment' for deeper insight in spiritual
forms, texts, orientations and interventions. The
formal object is a way of looking that is conatural
to the lived spirituality.
